| Abstract (English): |
In response to the initiative launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, The Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to make Riyadh a sustainable city, this study aims to examine social sustainability in the built environment of Riyadh city. The study focused on AL- waha residential neighborhood as a case study. The main question is to what extent the neighborhood case study fulfilled the indicators of social sustainability. The study followed a two-pronged methodology: the first part was the study of the physical aspect of the neighborhood, and the second part was the study of the moral dimension of the population by distributing a questionnaire to them. The study concluded that the neighborhood has achieved a good level in promoting social sustainability, such as the availability of sidewalks for pedestrians, the availability of gardens and parks, the clear landmarks of the neighborhood and the achievement of privacy in the dwelling, while there are still some aspects that need to be reviewed and strengthened to raise the efficiency of the neighborhood such as the availability of shaded paths, good distribution for services, the possibility of working within the neighborhood. استجابة إلى المبادرة التي أطلقها صاحب السمو الملكي األمير محمد بن سلمان ولي العهد بالمملكة العربية السعودية في أن تصبح مدينة الرياض مدينة مستدامة، تم إجراء هذه الدراسة التي تهدف إلى تعزيز مفهوم االستدامة االجتماعية في البيئة العمرانية وذلك من خالل دراسة واحد من أهم االحياء التي تم تطويرها في مدينة الرياض المتمثل بحي الواحة السكني ، ومعرفة مدى تحقيق الحي لمؤشرات االستدامة االجتماعية. اتبعت الدراسة منهجية مكونة من شقين: الشق األول دراسة الجانب المادي للحي، والشق الثاني دراسة البعد المعنوي للسكان من خالل توزيع استبانة عليهم. توصلت الدراسة إلى أن الحي قد حقق مستوى جيد في تعزيز االستدامة االجتماع ية ، مثل : توفر أرصفة المشاة وتوفر الحدائق والمنتزهات ووضوح معالم الحي، وتحقق الخصوصية في المسكن، بينما التزال هنالك بعض الجوانب إلتي تحتاج الى مراجعتها وتعزيزها لرفع كفاءة الحي مثل توفر ممرات مشاة مظللة وتوزيع متساوي لخدمات الحي وتوفير فرص عمل داخل الحي.
