This study investigates the similarities between Standard Arabic and Euphrates Dialect on both the phonetic and semantic level. It starts by analyzing the phonetic aspects of the dialect, before investigating the changes it has undergone as well as the reasons behind these changes and then comparing it to other Arabic dialects in Syria. It also examines the semantic connotations of the lexical items of Euphrates Dialect in comparison with their meaning in Standard Arabic, indicating their semantic differences. تتناول هذه الدراسة اللهجة الفراتية السورية في محافظة دير الزور، ريفًا ومدينةً، في جانبَيها الصوتي والدلالي، وتسعى للكشف عن صلات القربى بينها وبين الفصحى، حيث تبدأ بفحصٍ للّغة واللهجة، وبتعريفٍ ببيئة اللهجة المدروسة، متناولةً في الجانب الصوتي الظواهر الصوتية للّهجة؛ وذلك للكشف عن التغيّرات الطارئة عليها، ومقابلتها مع العربية الفصحى، وتعليلها، ومقارنتها بلهجات سورية أخرى. أما في الجانب الدلالي، فتبحث الدراسة في مفردات مختارة من اللهجة، موضّحةً التغيّرات الدلالية الطارئة عليها، ومقابلتها مع العربية الفصحى؛ لتبيين مقدار التحوّل أو الثبات الدلالي فيها، مع ذكر الاختلاف، حيث وقع، ما بين الريف والمدينة.
