| Abstract (English): |
From orature and literature come out fixed expressions, dicta, adages, proverbs and idioms revealing the sociocultural characters of a language. Such is the case in Makhtar Seck Mboro’s Wolof orature through his maxims full of life lessons highlighted with traditional, religious and customary values of Senegal. This paper falls within the framework of exploring the possible translation strategies in French of Makhtar Seck Mboro’s maxims, so far available in Wolof only, and studying the most appropriate translation technics. In the same vein, the research methodology will be based on the qualitative data collection through faithful transcription of audio files that are the source text, which will be then correctly translated into French. The translation technics that will be used will depend on the requirements of the target text. Then, our methodology results will essentially focus on the phonetic, lexical, stylistic rhetorical and sociocultural translation (or meaning) units. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

De l’orature et de la littérature surgissent des expressions figées, des dictons, des adages, des proverbes et des idiotismes révélant les caractères socioculturels d’une langue. Tel est le cas dans l’orature wolof de Makhtar Seck Mboro à travers ses enseignements véhiculant des leçons de vie soulignées par des valeurs traditionnelles, religieuses et coutumières du Sénégal. Le présent article s’inscrit dans le cadre d’explorer les stratégies de traduction possibles en français des maximes de Makhtar Seck Mboro, jusqu’ici disponibles qu’en wolof, et d’en étudier les procédés de traduction les plus appropriés. Dans le même ordre d’idées, la méthodologie de recherche sera axée sur la collecte de données qualitatives par transcription fidèle de fichiers audio constituant le texte de départ, lesquelles seront ensuite traduites en français de manière transparente. Les procédés de traduction qui seront utilisés dépendront des exigences du texte d’arrivée. Ensuite, les résultats de notre méthodologie porteront essentiellement sur les unités de traduction (ou de sens) de nature phonétique, lexicale, stylistique, rhétorique et socioculturelle.
