We have presented in case to aid in understanding the natural history of traumatic aneurysm of the aortic arch. The patient was essentially untreated and expired of spontaneous rupture of the aneurysm 11 years after injury. We feel that this lesion will become increasingly common as auto accidents increase in number, and that it has been proved that surgical treatment can be carried out successfully. Our case confirms the opinion of others that these lesions should be treated surgically when the diagnosis is made. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
