مستخلص: The present study was conducted to investigate the sex ratio, maturity stages, spawning periodicity, fecundity and ova diameter of Loligo duvauceli based on the commercial catches of trawl from the Mangalore coast. The spawning was found to be prolonged extending over several months. Peak spawning of the squid in Mangalore waters is in post monsoon months i.e. January to June. The female matured earlier than male and the size at first maturity was 9.8 cm for female and 10.2 cm for male. The average fecundity of the squid was found to be 7526 eggs. Significant correlation was noticed between fecundity and length, fecundity and weight & fecundity and ovary weight. The overall male to female ratio was found to be 1:1.03; seasonal and size dependent variations in sex ratio were distinct. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
