The abuse of older custodial grandparents is believed to be among the most invisible social problems in society. Using a family systems perspective, the possible abuse of these grandparents is discussed to exist as a result of high risk grandchildren, the vulnerability of older grandparents, and the existence adult children. Custodial grandparents are unlikely to report their abuse by grandchildren; thus, there are profound implications for those from the helping professions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
