| Abstract (English): |
Preliminary assessments and aptitude tests are used to measure applicants’ abilities and skills, but there is controversy over their ability to predict academic excellence in architecture. The paper aims to compare the predictive value of admission criteria for students in the College of Architecture and Planning at King Saud University, including models for testing the capabilities of the college and its relationship to academic excellence through the cumulative grade point average (GPA). Statistical analysis was done on the quantitative variables of the data of 536 students over 5 consecutive years to extract relevant statistical measures such as measures of central tendency and dispersion, Pearson’s coefficient of correlation, and simple linear regression. The study concluded that the relationship between the academic excellence of students, represented by the (GPA), and the other standard variables are a direct relationship, although it varies in strength. This result indicates the necessity of reviewing the college aptitude test and linking it to the educational objectives of the academic courses in the college. It is hoped that the results of this study will contribute to supporting the theoretical basis for research into the predictive value of admission criteria of architectural students and their contribution to academic success. يقوم الكثري من املؤسسات التعليمية بإجراء اختبارات تقييم لقياس القدرات واملهارات ً للمتقدمني هبدف تنظيمي ممثال ً بفرز أهلية املتقدمني، واقتصادي ممثال باحلد من الترسب الطاليب، وتنافيس ً ممثال بتجويد املخرجات. ويف جمال العامرة، تم تطوير العديد من النامذج االختبارية لقياس القدرات التخيلية ً والتصويرية بشكل رئيس، خالفا لالختبارات التقليدية التي تركز عىل قياس القدرات اللفظية والكمية. إال ً حول قدرة هذه النامذج االختبارية عىل التنبؤ بالتميز األكاديمي. هتدف الورقة إىل مقارنة أن هناك جدال القيمة التنبؤية ملعايري القبول للطالب بكلية العامرة والتخطيط بجامعة امللك سعود وعالقة ارتباطها بالتميز األكاديمي من خالل املعدل الرتاكمي يف مسرية الطالب التعليمية. تم التحليل اإلحصائي عىل املتغريات ً الكمية لبيانات عدد 536 طالبا عىل مدى 5 سنوات متتالية الستخالص بعض املقاييس اإلحصائية ذات العالقة مثل: مقاييس النزعة املركزية والتشتت، ومعامل بريسون لالرتباط واالنحدار اخلطي البسيط. كام تم يف الدراسة مقارنة أداء طالب اخلطة احلالية مع السابقة ملعرفة أثر السنة التحضريية املشرتكة. خلصت الدراسة ً إىل أن العالقة بني التميز األكاديمي للطالب ممثال باملعدل الرتاكمي، واملتغريات القياسية األخرى؛ هي عالقة طردية وإن كانت متباينة يف قوهتا وجاءت عىل الرتتيب التايل: معدل السنة التحضريية املشرتكة، االختبار ً التحصييل، اختبار قدرات قياس، وأخريا اختبار قدرات الكلية، وهو ما يؤرش عىل رضورة مراجعة النموذج االختباري وربطه باألهداف التعليمية للمقررات الدراسية يف الكلية.
