In the community building of old communities, residents' intervention in public space triggers a game between different stakeholders, and the in-between space that combines spatial and social media significance provides a new perspective for community building to coordinate spatial games and guide public participation. This article conducts a survey on the in-between space in Taoguxincun community in Nanjing city, analyzes its characteristics and symbiosis and summarizes its connotation, value, and design strategies in the context of community building. This article further explores the potential of using in-between space as a carrier to encourage residents to participate in community building and turn games into symbiosis through the design practice of the new village community.
