| Abstract (English): |
This research traces the evolution of the concept of freedom, starting from its emergence in Europe during the sixteenth century as a building block of modernity, in the thought of both Ahmed Lotfi El Sayed and Abdallah Laroui. The transformations brought about by modernity influenced economics, politics, science, and sociology ...etc. Lotfi El Sayed occupies a higher status in contemporary Arab culture as a prominent proponent of the values of freedom, renowned for his strong advocacy for freedom, considering it synonymous with life. He played a pioneering role in promoting liberal ideals in the Arab region. Meanwhile, Laroui presented a series of concepts such as ideology, freedom, the state, history, and reason. Within this framework, the concept of freedom is prominent. The main objective of exploring freedom as a concept is to establish a dialectical relationship between the initial perceptions of freedom in ancient Arab imagination and the subsequent transformations in the meanings that Arabs have attached to it since the eighteenth century. Additionally, it analyses the modern understanding of freedom within the context of European political modernity - a recurrent theme in Larouis conceptual framework. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى تع قّب مكانة مفهوم الحرية ورصدها، بحسبانه من المفاهي م المحورية التي انضوت عليها الحداثة عندما انبثقت في أوروبا ابتدا ءً من القرن السادس عش ر عبر جُمل ةٍ من التحواًلت التي شملت جميع مناحي الحياة: ااًلقتصاد، والسياسة، والعلوم ، وااًلجتماع ... إلخ، وذلك عند ك لٍّ من أحمد لطفي السيد وعبد الله العروي. يحت لّ السيد مكان ة أسنى في الثقافة العربية المعاصرة، ومر دّ ذلك أنه كان من أبرز المتب نّين لقيم الحرية. واألم ر راج عٌ إلى أنه رأى فيها مراد فًا للحياة، واًل س يّما أ نّه كان رائ دًا للتيار الليبرالي في ال رّقعة العربي ة بال مدافعة. أ مّا العروي فإ نّه ق دّم، في إطار مشروعه الفكري المؤ سّس على سؤال الحداثة، سلسل ة من المفاهيم (األيديولوجيا، والحرية، والدولة، والتاريخ، والعقل)، نال مفهوم الحرية مكان ةً فيها. إ نّ غاية "مفهوم الحرية" هي خلق عالقة سجالية بين التصورات األولى للحرية في المخيا ل العربي القديم والتحول الذي طرأ على معناها بعد القرن الثامن عشر عند العرب، وبين الحري ة بوصفها مفهو مًا في وضعه الحديث كما تب نّته البيئة األوروبية المنتشية بالحداثة السياسية، وهذ ه عادة در جَ عليها العروي في سلسلة المفاهيم.
