Traditional cures for maladies from the Torry area in Aberdeen, Scotland include washing a sickly child in a healing well, placing a shilling in the well to help diagnose an ailment, and placing three round stones from the beach to find the location of the ailment. Other cures indicated in Thomas White Ogilvie's "Book of St Fittick" are the St. Fittick's Well and the Struak as sources of water for curative purposes, and the use of shilling.
