مستخلص: A retrospective observational study published in the journal Anaesthesia investigated the prevalence of penicillin cross-sensitivity in patients with confirmed hypersensitivity to cefazolin. The study found that cross-sensitivity to penicillin is uncommon in these patients. The researchers implemented an algorithm allowing the administration of cefazolin to patients with a history of penicillin allergy, except for those with life-threatening delayed hypersensitivity reactions, and observed no cases of anaphylaxis to cefazolin in patients with a history of penicillin allergy. The study suggests that patients with confirmed hypersensitivity to cefazolin are at low risk of reacting to penicillins and should be given these drugs if required. [Extracted from the article]
