مستخلص: This article, published in the Journal of Neurological Surgery, explores the use of an endoscopic retrolabyrinthine (RL) approach for exposing the root entry zone (REZ) of the trigeminal nerve (TN). The study conducted surgical dissections on cadaveric human heads to quantify the exposure of the TN REZ using this approach. The results showed that the RL approach provided adequate exposure of the TN REZ, with the drilling of the supra-meatal tubercle (SMT) further enhancing the visualization and working volume. However, potential disadvantages of the RL approach include longer surgery time, increased technical difficulty, and the risk of CSF leak and hearing loss. [Extracted from the article]
