مستخلص: A recent study conducted at Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing, China, has explored the role of ENPP1 depletion in the pathogenesis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The researchers found that downregulation of ENPP1 inhibited OSCC cancer growth and induced apoptosis, which was preceded by cytotoxic autophagy. Mechanistic studies revealed that ENPP1 downregulation increased PRKAA1 phosphorylation, leading to ULK1 activation. These findings suggest that targeting ENPP1 depletion could be a promising therapeutic strategy for treating OSCC through cytotoxic autophagy-related apoptosis. [Extracted from the article]
