مستخلص: Marine fungi, which have been largely overlooked in the past, are now gaining attention for their potential to address global challenges such as antibiotic resistance and plastic pollution. Recent research has revealed that marine fungi are present in all marine habitats and make up a significant portion of oceanic plankton. These fungi have shown remarkable adaptability to the marine environment, with the ability to adjust their cell walls and metabolisms in response to changing conditions. They play important roles in nutrient cycling and may have the potential to produce antimicrobial compounds and aid in the breakdown of pollutants. While marine mushrooms have not been discovered yet, the possibility remains open as the marine environment is still largely unexplored. [Extracted from the article]
