Researchers at Austin Health in Victoria, Australia have conducted a study on breast cancer and the challenges of accurately delineating the tumor bed for radiation therapy. The study explored the use of stabilised hyaluronic acid (sHA) gel as a marker to define the tumor bed cavity for post-breast conserving surgery (BCS) adjuvant MRI-based radiation therapy planning. The researchers found that the insertion of sHA gel was successful in all patients, with minimal adverse events.
