Opisanie lasów i puszcz mazowieckich pozwala poznać nie tylko stopień wyeksploatowania poszczególnych ekosystemów leśnych, ale umożliwia także zrozumienie złożonej sieci powiązań gospodarczych, społecznych i politycznych, jakie funkcjonowały w skupiskach leśnych w przeszłości.
