مستخلص: Seed lending programs, or seed libraries, have increased in popularity as programs within both public and academic libraries as part of the "library of things" movement. Most of the literature on seed libraries offers program descriptions, often accompanied by how-to steps to starting a seed library, and does not provide a critical analysis of any aspect of seed libraries. This study aims to explore the intentions of librarians and libraries in starting seed lending programs and how those same programs are described in outreach and marketing efforts. The purpose of this study is to use recent literature on neutrality and activism to broaden the discourse around seed lending programs from how-to articles to a more critical examination of said programs.
