مستخلص: ZnO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by a biosynthetic method using pineapple peel extract (Ananas comosus) as reducing and stabilizing agent as well as a capping agent. The purpose of this research is to characterize ZnO nanoparticles and investigate their application as absorbent photocatalyst. Characterization is done using Spectroscopy Transformation Infrared (FT-IR) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Nanoparticles ZnO has a sub-sperhoidal shape with a crystal size of an average of 17.02 nm. The UV spectra of ZnO nanoparticles was found at 230 nm based on UV_VIS analysis. The result of the photodegradation of methylene blue is the largest with a variation of the mass of ZnO nanoparticles and the concentration of methylene blue is 74.02% with nanoparticle mass of 100 mg, concentration of methylene blue 10 ppm, and time of irradiation for 150 minutes.
