مستخلص: This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, presents the findings of a retrospective cohort study that aimed to determine if outpatient management of patients with gastrointestinal bleeding from vascular lesions reduces the re-bleeding rate. The study included 79 patients observed between May 2022 and September 2023. The results showed that after the introduction of outpatient management, the re-bleeding rate decreased significantly, as did the need for emergency department visits and elective hospitalizations. Additionally, the study found that fewer patients required transfusions after outpatient management. The authors conclude that outpatient management of gastrointestinal bleeding can lead to a reduction in re-bleeding rates and associated costs. [Extracted from the article]
