مستخلص: The purpose of this study is to provide a guide for strength and conditioning coaches that are interested in using smallsided games as a conditioning tool, and how they can be applied into a semi-elite rugby league setting. Small-sided games have become more popular in recent years, with many research papers showing the benefits of their use and the observed physiological responses. However, few articles provide a full explanation of the games and how they can be applied into training. The games presented in this study are Netball touch, Drop-out touch, and Laser touch. These games were designed using the principles of the Constraints-Led Approach8, to manipulate rules so that players were getting a conditioning effect whilst playing them. The rules of Rugby League provided the constraints that were manipulated and adjusted to create three, unique games that can be used as conditioning tools. Based on a typical weekly training schedule for a semi-elite level rugby league player, these games can be used at one to two sessions a week during preseason, before becoming the main form of conditioning when in-season. Small-sided games are a great conditioning tool that can be used to improve the physical capacities of semi-elite rugby league players. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
