مستخلص: Enzyme supplementation is commonly applied to optimize ruminant feed utilization and reduce feed cost production. One of the enzymes commonly used in ruminant nutrition is cellulase which breaks down complex fibrous materials in feeds. However, published studies revealed that the effect of cellulase supplementation in rice straw on rumen fermentation and digestion has been varied and remains inconclusive. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the cellulase enzyme addition in rice straw on in vitro rumen fermentation and digestion through a meta-analysis approach. A total of 24 data points from seven articles were included in a database and analyzed with a mixed model methodology using SAS 9.1 software. The results showed that the cellulase enzyme supplementation increased (P<0.05) total short-chain fatty acid concentration in the rumen and enhanced the (P<0.05) metabolizable energy value of rice straw. However, cellulase supplementation did not affect rice straw's in vitro dry matter digestibility compared to control. It can be concluded that the cellulase supplementation enzyme can improve the nutrient utilization of rice straw. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
