مستخلص: Gasification is a process in which a carbonaceous fuel is converted into a fuel gas, usually known as syngas. An Aspen Plus model was developed to simulate the co-gasification process of forest residues and cow manure. The model is based on the minimization of Gibbs free energy. The model has been validated and predicts syngas composition in very good agreement with literature data. The equivalence ratio (ER), steam/biomass ratio (SBR), and carbon dioxide/biomass ratio (CBR) were analyzed for air, steam, and carbon dioxide as the gasifying agents. This study shows that the gasifying agent have a very strong influence on the syngas composition. The attained results alows us to conclude that a best quality syngas is obtained with steam as the gasifying agent and employing low SBR. Since steam is the most expensive gasifying agent, an economic viability study should be conducted to complement these results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
