مستخلص: Natural iron oxide materials, extracted from beach placer deposits were pulverized and its photo-catalytic efficiency is studied. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies confirm the presence of Fe3O4 in major proportion. The Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy (FTIR) studies support the XRD results, confirming the presence of iron oxides in the sample. Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) studies shows the ferro-magnetic behaviour of the natural iron oxide sample. The Ultra-Violet - Visible light spectroscopy (UV-Vis) and Photo-Luminescence spectroscopy (PL) studies confirm the bandgap to be 2.45 eV. The photo-catalytic efficiency of the natural iron oxides is studied using methylene blue dye under visible light irradiation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
