The purpose of this research is the examination and interpretation of cultural symbols within the national image groups produced at the r/Place event held in 2022. r/Place is an online event, the firstly organized through the Reddit platform in 2017 and the second repeated by Reddit in April 2022. Participants of the event applied visual designs individually or in groups for three days through the platform, which allows users to leave pixels on a blank digital canvas at certain intervals. When we look at the designs and the process, it is seen that users come together and form 'virtual communities' and place the designs they have determined on the canvas in an organized manner. Among the images on the canvas are anime characters, video game characters, symbols, messages from subreddit communities, LGBTI+ symbols, sports symbols, and national/cultural symbols can be seen. It is thought that examining the symbols that communities produce by coming together and acting collectively in such an event that takes place in the virtual world is significant in terms of understanding the reflection of symbolic production on the virtual plane. This research is a qualitative study based on the case study approach, and the content analysis method was used while examining the visuals containing cultural symbols that were selected as samples in the research. It is thought that the research will shed light on the contextual understanding of the r/Place event and the national images produced in the event, and in this context, the forms of digital content production of virtual communities in the digital environment. Bu araştırmanın amacı, 2022 yılında gerçekleşen r/Place etkinliğinde üretilmiş olan ulusal imge grupları içerisinde yer alan kültürel sembollerin incelenmesi ve yorumlanmasıdır. r/Place; ilki 2017 yılında Reddit platformu vasıtasıyla düzenlenen, ikincisi ise yine Reddit tarafından 2022 yılının Nisan ayında tekrarlanan ve çevrimiçi gerçekleşen bir etkinliktir. Boş bir dijital kanvas (tuval) üzerinde kullanıcıların belirli süre aralıklarıyla pikseller bırakmasına olanak tanıyan platform aracılığıyla etkinliğe katılanlar bireysel veya gruplar halinde üç gün boyunca görsel tasarımlar uygulamıştır. Yapılan tasarımlara ve sürece bakıldığında, kullanıcıların bir araya gelerek 'sanal cemaatler' oluşturdukları ve belirledikleri tasarımları organize hareket ederek kanvasa yerleştirdikleri görülmektedir. Kanvasta yer alan ve bu imgeler arasında anime karakterleri, video oyun karakter ve sembolleri, Subreddit topluluklarına ait sembol ve mesajlar, LGBTI+ sembolleri, sportif semboller ve ulusal/kültürel semboller görülebilmektedir. Toplulukların sanal dünya üzerinde gerçekleşen böylesi bir etkinlikte bir araya gelerek ve kolektif hareket ederek üretmiş oldukları sembollerin incelenmesinin, sembolik üretimin sanal düzlemdeki yansımasının anlaşılması açısından önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir. Yapılan bu araştırma durum çalışması yaklaşımına dayalı nitel bir çalışmadır ve araştırmada örneklem olarak seçilen ve kültürel semboller içeren görsellerin incelenmesi sırasında içerik analizi yönteminden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırmanın, r/Place etkinliğinin ve etkinlikte üretilmiş olan ulusal imgelerin içeriksel açıdan anlaşılabilmesine ve bu bağlamda sanal toplulukların dijital ortamdaki dijital içerik üretimi biçimlerine ışık tutacağı düşünülmektedir.
