The article analyzes the novel "Montaña adentro" by Marta Brunet, highlighting its originality and its differentiation from previous criollista narratives. The novel represents an aesthetic and political turn in criollismo, paving the way for new forms of constructing literary realism. The importance of oral language, human activity, and geography in the novel is emphasized, as well as the representation of women, especially the protagonist Cata, who works tirelessly and experiences her sexuality without guilt.
