The use of animals in animal-assisted therapies (AAT) is becoming increasingly popular. Unfortunately, most studies in this field have an anthropocentric focus, thus neglecting the assessment of the physical and mental health of the animals involved. Despite the fact that animal welfare has recently come to the fore, most studies that indicate the stress that animals experience when used for AAT relate to dogs. Our research aimed to assess the stressful effect that cat-assisted therapy activities have on cats in children with autism spectrum disorders. In our experiment, we used 15 clinically healthy cats (ten females and five neutered males) of the European breed. The 15 cats were aged between 5 and 7 years old. The cats used in the experiment formed a uniform group, both in terms of maintenance and health. The data obtained were statistically analyzed, calculating the Mean and Standard Deviation (SD), using the Microsoft Excel application. At the same time, the statistical significance of the differences between the batches was calculated using the t-test (Student), using the Microsoft Excel application. We found that feline-assisted therapy activities in children with autism spectrum disorders led to a significant increase in hematocrit, hemoglobin, and the number of red blood cells in the blood of cats used for the first time in therapy. Utilizarea animalelor în terapiile asistate de animale (TAA) devine din ce în ce mai populară. Din păcate, majoritatea studiilor din acest domeniu au un accent antropocentric, neglijând astfel evaluarea sănătății fizice și psihice a animalelor implicate. În ciuda faptului că bunăstarea animalelor a ajuns recent în prim-plan, majoritatea studiilor care indică stresul pe care îl experimentează animalele când sunt utilizate pentru TAA se referă la câini. Cercetările noastre au vizat evaluarea efectului stresant pe care îl au asupra pisicilor activitățile specifice terapiei asistate de pisici, în cazul copiilor cu tulburări din spectrul autist. În experimentul nostru am utilizat 15 pisici (zece femele și cinci masculi castrați), clinic sănătoase, din rasa Europeană. Cele 15 pisici au avut vârste cuprinse între 5 și 7 ani. Pisicile utilizate în experiment au format un grup uniform, atât din punctul de vedere al stării de întreținere, cât și din cel al sănătății. Datele obținute au fost analizate statistic, calculându-se media și deviația standard (SD), folosind aplicația Microsoft Excel. Totodată, s-a calculat semnificația statistică a diferențelor dintre loturi cu ajutorul testului t (Student), folosind aplicația Microsoft Excel. Am constatat că activitățile specifice terapiei asistate de feline, în cazul copiilor cu tulburări din spectrul autist, au determinat creșterea semnificativă a hematocritului, hemoglobinei și a numărului de hematii în sângele pisicilor utilizate prima dată în terapie.
