The book "Iconicity" by Sonja Taigel is an introduction to the topic for beginners in German Linguistics. It addresses the question of whether the content and expressive aspects of linguistic signs are really in an unmotivated relationship or if iconicity is a factor in the language system. Taigel mainly refers to German grammar and distinguishes between B- and D-iconicity. She also discusses related phenomena in animal communication. The book covers various areas of linguistics such as phonology, morphology, and syntax, and shows how iconicity is expressed in more abstract structures. The text deals with the topic of iconicity in linguistics. It is noted that the alliance between the topic and the KEGLI book series sometimes does not work well, as complex topics are addressed in short paragraphs. Nevertheless, the volume is considered worth reading because the author is competent and focuses on various aspects of iconicity. Es behandelt die Frage, ob die Inhalts- und Ausdrucksseite sprachlicher Zeichen wirklich in einem unmotivierten Verhältnis stehen oder ob Ikonizität eine Größe im Sprachsystem ist. Taigel bezieht sich hauptsächlich auf die deutsche Grammatik und unterscheidet zwischen B- und D-Ikonizität. Sie diskutiert auch artverwandte Phänomene in der Tierkommunikation. Das Buch behandelt verschiedene Bereiche der Linguistik wie Phonologie, Morphologie und Syntax und zeigt, wie Ikonizität in abstrakteren Strukturen zum Ausdruck kommt. Der Text beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema Ikonizität in der Linguistik.
