The article presents a study on the methods of suicide among English and Welsh Immigrants in Australia during 1962 to 1966. It has been found that these immigrants adopted predominantly non-violent methods of suicide. Its ratio of non-violent to violent methods more akin to that in their country of origin than to that of the Australian-born. Nevertheless, the rank ordering and percentage distribution of specific methods of suicide among the immigrants was much closer to that pertaining to the Australian-born than to their country of origin. They tended to adopt the more common methods of suicide prevalent in Australia, with a reduction of those more common methods in England and Wales. |
