The article reflects on the nuclear weapons program of United Kingdom. The section aims to reconsider the question of the U.K. government's drive for a nuclear weapon capacity from a perspective that tales account of such ideas. It focuses on the issue of the U.K. government's activity as an independent nuclear power, that is, the idea of acting without the support of the United States government. It argues that for a powerful section of the government apparatus that dominated nuclear policy, policy was based on the actual willingness to use nuclear weapons in the mass slaughter of enemy civilian populations if it was thought necessary. |
