The article addresses the financial crisis faced by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD). As the defence budget face increasing pressure, there has been a growing emphasis on narrow cost-saving. In a further attempt to leverage cost savings, there has been a push towards much greater civilianisation and contractorisation of several support functions. The main problem is that the budget for the defence sector is inadequate and has been since the end of the Cold War. |
