In view of the high unemployment rate, it is commendable that the Securities and Exchange Commission (and, to an extent, the courts) has joined the effort to open up more positions in the corporate ranks and in firms serving corporations, particularly in accounting, investment banking, and legal organization. Corporate flagellants, retroactive rectitude strategists, continuous disclosure exhibitionists, and knowing wink and affirmative nod detectors are now needed to meet the ever changing SEC concepts of appropriate corporate conduct. Whistle blowers, new client checkers, old client skeptics-even bricklayers and brick wall wreckers-are welcome additions to the ranks of professional firms. In their effort to educate managers, the authors examine nearly three dozen new or enlarged positions.
