The article presents an overview of a strategy to eliminate Chagas' disease in the Americas by 2010 which was announced by the World Health Organization in 2007. A discussion of the difficulties that have been associated with attempting to eliminate the disease, and of the impact that the disease has on people that are living in Central and South America, is presented. The global epidemiology of Chagas' disease is discussed. Suggestions for strategies that could be implemented to eliminate Chagas' disease are offered. |
