مستخلص: The article discusses a study which examined the effectiveness of pocket epithelium removal with sulcular and internally beveled incisions by topographically and microscopically viewing the inner wall of flaps. It also determines whether a single session of scaling and root planing prior to incision would affect the ability to remove the pocket epithelium by the incisions. Results showed that no epithelium was removed, and 16 specimens had more than 50% of pocket epithelium removal. In addition, presurgical scaling and root planing did not affect the amount of frequency of epithelium removal with either the beveled or the sulcular incision.
