مستخلص: The article discusses the importance of teaching food safety skills to students with disabilities. Food preparation education can help special education teachers focus not only on cooking instruction but also on reading comprehension, mathematics and life skills training. Food preparation instruction also helps students with disabilities prepare for work-study opportunities in the food service industry. The authors note that food preparation classes should include instruction on the various elements of food safety including personal hygiene, cross-contamination and food storage.
