مستخلص: The article presents a study which on the effects of different bait species such as blue mackerel, yellow-tail mackerel and squid, their life status and leaded swivel weight on the sink rates of baited hooks in pelagic longline fisheries in Australia. The result of the study will be used as scientific basis for line weighting to minimize seabird mortality. Results show that sink rates were associated with heavy swivels closed to the hook with live bait increases its exposure to seabirds.
