مستخلص: The article presents a study which aims to determine the efficiency of neural drive in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) compared to healthy individuals during exercise. During the study, the maximal diaphragm electromyogram (EMGdi) of the subjects were recorded, including maximal inspiration to total lung capacity (TLC), maximal inspiration against a closed valve at functional residual capacity (FRC) for 3 s and maximal sniff from FRC. Based on the results, COPD patients showed higher neural respiratory drive.
