مستخلص: Model experiments have been carried out to determine possible sources of error in the use of indicator dilution methods to determine ventricular volumes. It has been shown that volumes are significantly over-estimated when sampling is made in the aorta using the “wash-out” or constant infusion methods. The presence of valvular regurgitation invalidates the results. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
