مستخلص: Most previous work on the topic of IT-enabled change has drawn a black box around the technology artifact, and instead focused attention on the social and organizational processes that emerge as a result of the adoption of new technology (Leonardi and Barley, 2008). As a result, little is ever known about the constitutive interaction between the technology and the work processes that combine to generate performance outcomes across diverse settings. Using within and cross case analyses, this study seeks to fill this gap in our current understanding of IT-enabled change by investigating the following research question: How do the material properties of RFID based inventory management systems and the work practices of clinicians interact to impact performance outcomes in urgent care contexts? In order to address these issues, we adopt a sociomateriality framework that will be used to guide our data collection and analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
