The article focuses on a study that tested the hypothesis whether obese people experience less reward from food due to lower striatal dopamine release, which consequently leads to overeating. As mentioned, the result of the study showed that baseline striatal dopamine availability was lower in obese subjects compared to controls, and concluded that the study provides preliminary data that obesity is associated with blunted dopamine release. |
