Abstract (Spanish): The present article introduces the quality assurance program of the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS) called Clinical Governance (CG). Firstly, we briefly describe the main circumstances leading to the creation of this program, the elements of CG and the national organizations involved. Next, the impact of CG on nursing practice is described in greater detail, especially nurses' professional role and the development of organizational structure. By way of conclusion, we provide a historical overview of the implementation of CG from a nursing perspective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
