مستخلص: The recent reexamination and spectral analysis of a red pipestone disc pipe fragment found at the Chickasawba site identifies the material as catlinite originating from the Pipestone National Monument in southwest Minnesota. Engraved on the Chickasawba piece is a motif similar to motifs depicted on catlinite tablets found at three Oneota sites in the Midwest. The catlinite disc pipe fragment and three whole "catlinite" disc pipes found at Chickasawba may be evidence of an alliance between the proposed Late Mississippi/Protohistoric period chiefdom of Pacaha and some Midwest groups involved in the quarrying, crafting, and exchange of catlinite from the Minnesota quarries.
