The purpose of the work is to determine the dependence of labor productivity in the agrarian sector on investments in this sector, as well as its contribution to ensuring food security in contemporary Russia, as well as to substantiate the key role of personnel management and develop recommendations for the application of management approaches to labor productivity in the agricultural sector. For this, the regression analysis method is used. In the information and analytical respect, this study is based on the materials of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat) and the Economist Intelligence Unit. The timeframe of the study covers 2012-2016. In the course of the study, the authors identified a weak connection between the growth of labor productivity in the agrarian sector and the deepening of the problem of food security in contemporary Russia. The authors also proved that investments in fixed assets do not have a significant impact on the growth of labor productivity in the agricultural sector. Based on this, it was concluded that personnel management plays the key role in ensuring labor productivity in the agricultural sector. The authors' algorithm of combination of managerial approaches in the process of labor productivity management in the agricultural sector, developed and presented in the work allows achieving high efficiency of this process due to ensuring its optimal consistency, variability, selection of the appropriate management approach at each of the selected stages, as well as a cyclical representation of this process, providing for its integrity and continuity.
