I think that is the kind of the understanding of an image, which might not be a deep critical understanding of what images are, or what those images do to people, but it is part of an increasing understanding of the image or the use of images. One moves toward a centrally programmed, totalitarian society of image receivers and image administrators, the other towards a dialogic, telematic society of image producers and image collectors.
