Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune chronic disease occasionally linked to malignant or benign salivary gland neoplasms. Case 1: A 63-year-old woman presented with a palpable nodule in the left parotid gland region, dry mouth, hoarseness, dry eyes and vagina, fatigue, and myalgia. SS was diagnosed through serological tests, salivary gland ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), lip biopsy, and ophthalmologic examination. Aspiration puncture was performed on the nodule twice, yielding inconclusive results. Subsequent partial parotidectomy and microscopic examination revealed B-cell MALT lymphoma. Case 2: An 84-year-old woman with dry mouth, reflux, recurrent pneumonia, and asthenia was diagnosed with SS through serological tests, salivary gland ultrasound, MRI, lip biopsy, and ophthalmologic examination. Parotid aspiration puncture confirmed the presence of a Warthin tumor. In SS patients, combining major salivary gland imaging exams with aspiration puncture on nodules or surgical removal is an essential part of diagnosing glandular neoplasms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
