The article discusses on the methodology of performing water hammer calculations. It focuses on the four conditions produced by water hammer including velocity of wave celerity, critical time, maximum head developed in the maximum pressure time, and minimum head developed in critical time. The method used is based on the simplified nomograms from pipeline transportation of hydrocarbons. Sample calculations were shown based on maximum pressure, critical time, valve closing time and overpressure. |
