The article comments on a paper titled "Group Work Revisited: A Statement of Position," by Mildred Sirls, Jack Rubenstein, Erma Myerson and Alan Klein, which appeared in the September 1967 issue of the "Jewish Social Work Forum." According to the author, the paper came as a welcome relief to social workers who are working in the Jewish Center setting in that it presented a holistic approach to the profession. One example of a social group work practice which integrates the needs of the individual, the group and society involves work with a senior citizens group. In this setting, the worker discovered that members were concerned about attracting new members to the group. |
