The article presents a case study of a 53-year-old man who is diagnosed with blastomyces according to fungal culture specimen obtained via bronchoscopy. The patient was given amphotericin, however, he was intubated because of hypoxemic respiratory failure. The symptoms are nonspecific and undistinguishable from those of viral, bacterial, mycotic and even parasitic infections. A chest radiogram also revealed diffuse alveolar infiltrates. |
