The article focuses on the seafloor mapping survey by the C & C Technologies Inc. in West Florida Escarpment (WFE) in the U.S. in December 2005. WFE is a poorly-surveyed but geologically complex feature about 150 nautical miles off the western Florida shore. The survey used the C & C Technologies C-Surveyor II, a Hugin 3000 autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) device. The device is a robot minisubmarine capable of conducting geophysical surveys. |
