مستخلص: 210Po in sea fish, mussel, algae and beach sediment samples collected at four selected stations (Şile, Trabzon, Sinop and Zonguldak) along the Turkish coast of the Black Sea are presented and discussed. The observed 210Po massic activities in beach sediments and algae were 5.9-79 Bq kg-1 dry weight (dw) and 11.5-35 Bq kg-1 dw, respectively. The 210Po levels in fish were between 0.8 and 2.4 Bq kg-1 wet weight (ww) in whiting (Merlangius sp.), 1.6-8.9 Bq kg-1 ww in horse mackerel (Trachurus sp.), and 5.8-6.3 Bq kg-1 in red mullet (Mullus sp.). Possible causes of these variations are "vital effects", e.g. individual fish size and interfamily differences. The average activity of 210Po in mussels with shell length ⩾5 cmwas 25 ± 10 Bq kg-1 ww.
