Introduction: The factorial analysis is a multivariate statistical method that identifies a few factors, which give the right information in a wider range of variables, such as a questionnaire. Among the different methods of factorial analysis, analysis of main components is one of the most widely used in nursing research. The purpose of this study is the application of principal components analysis to a holistic measurement of religious and nonreligious coping strategies called Spiritual Coping Strategies (SCS). This instrument was chosen by the authors as it has good indices of validation, a good ability to identify two well distinct coping and for the cultural orientation similar to the Italian society. The work represents the first of three studies, which aim to make a factorial analysis on three samples consisting of students Degree Course in Nursing, Critical Care Nurses, Critical Patient. If the data of the studies show good psychometric capacity, the application field of the instrument may be both clinical and managerial training. Methods: The Spiritual Coping Strategies is questionnaire at 20 items, at two factors, with a Likert scale at 4 steps. The sample consists of 102 students in the third year of the Degree Course in Nursing. The exploration has been performed by factorial analysis with principal components. The internal consistency was measured by Cronbach á, and r of Pearson for the correlations between the factors identified. Results: The principal components analysis revealed a structure with two factors. A first factor consisting of 9 items, reflecting a religious coping, whereas the second factor consisting of 10 items reflecting a non-religious coping. The internal consistency showed an overall α = 0.88. Discussion: The SCS at two factors is an instrument that has shown good proprieties in identifying the two dimensions of religious and non-religious coping strategies, to explain the total variance of variables, the internal consistency and the correlation between the factors. Introduzione: l'analisi fattoriale è una metodologia statistica multivariata che individua pochi fattori, capaci di dare ragione delle informazioni contenute in un insieme più ampio di variabili, come nel caso di un questionario. Tra le diverse metodologie di analisi fattoriale, l'analisi delle componenti principali è tra le più usate nella ricerca infermieristica. Scopo di questo studio è l'applicazione dell'analisi delle componenti principali ad uno strumento olistico di misurazione delle strategie di coping religioso e non religioso denominato Spiritual Coping Strategies (SCS). Questo strumento è stato scelto dagli autori poiché presenta buoni indici di validazione, una buona capacità di identificare due fattori di coping ben distinti e per l'orientamento culturale affine a quello della società italiana. Il lavoro rappresenta il primo di tre studi, che hanno lo scopo di effettuare un'analisi fattoriale su tre campioni costituiti da: studenti del Corso di Laurea in Infermieristica, Infermieri di Area Critica, Persone in Condizioni di Criticità Vitale. Se i dati degli studi evidenzieranno buone capacità psicometriche, il campo di applicazione dello strumento potrà essere sia clinico che formativo e gestionale. Materiali e metodi: lo Spiritual Coping Strategies è un questionario di 20 items, a due fattori, con scala Likert a 4 passi. Il campione è formato da 102 studenti del terzo anno del Corso di Laurea in Infermieristica. L'esplorazione fattoriale è stata eseguita con l'analisi delle componenti principali. La coerenza interna è stata misurata con á di Cronbach e l' r di Pearson per le correlazioni tra i fattori individuati. Risultati L'analisi delle componenti principali ha evidenziato una struttura a due fattori. Un primo fattore formato da 9 items, rifletteva un coping religioso, mentre il secondo fattore formato da 10 items rifletteva un coping non religioso. La coerenza interna totale mostrava un á = 0,88. Discussione: lo SCS a due fattori è uno strumento che ha mostrato buone proprietà nell'individuare le due dimensioni delle strategie di coping religioso e non religioso, di spiegare la varianza complessiva delle variabili, della consistenza interna e le correlazione tra i fattori. Conclusioni: lo SCS può essere utilizzato per la valutazione delle strategie di coping spirituale negli studenti dei Corsi di laurea in Infermieristica. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
